What Are Tokens?
Tokens are Oneshot Incarnate's fair-play currency. They ensure that players and organizers are committed to showing up for games, creating a reliable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Think of tokens as a refundable deposit - you only lose them if the game successfully happens. If plans change, you get them back automatically.
At $20, a token costs less than an escape room or a night of bowling — but gets you 4+ hours of personalized, interactive storytelling with a dedicated Game Master and a table of fellow adventurers. No two sessions are ever the same.
How Tokens Work
đ˛Spending Tokens
- Partner venues: 1 token per game at game stores with reserved tables
- Community spaces: 1/4 token at comic shops, cafes, breweries & more (first-come seating)
- Home games: 1/4 token per game at approved homes
- When applied: Token is held (reserved) but not yet spent
- When finalized: Token is spent only after the game happens
âEarning Tokens
- Game Masters: Earn 1 full token back when you GM a session
- Organizers: Earn 1/2 token back for organizing (if not GMing)
- GM + Organize: If you GM your own game, you get 1 token (not 1.5)
- Net cost: GMing breaks even after rebate! Organizing costs only 1/2 token
Token Lifecycle
Apply to a Game
When you apply, 1 token is held (reserved) from your account. You can't use it for other games, but it's not spent yet.
Game Happens
After the game session, the organizer finalizes it. At this point, all held tokens are spent - permanently deducted from accounts.
Automatic Refunds
If you withdraw, get rejected, or the game is canceled, your token is automatically returned to your account. No questions asked.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do GM credits work?
Game Masters earn 1 full token back when they GM a session. If you organize and GM (which is common), you get the GM credit of 1 token - not both organizer and GM credits combined. You need 1 token upfront to hold your spot, but it comes back to you after the session — so one token lasts forever if you keep GMing.
What are home games and community spaces?
Home games are hosted at someone's home (1/4 token). Apply to host!
Community spaces are public venues like comic shops, cafes, breweries & more (1/4 token). Tables are first-come-first-served, so arrive early!
Do tokens expire?
No! Tokens never expire. Buy them whenever and use them whenever you want.
Can I get a refund on tokens?
Tokens are non-refundable once purchased, but they're automatically returned to you if games are canceled. You never lose tokens unless a game actually happens.
Can I transfer tokens to friends?
Not currently, but this feature may be added in the future. Each user manages their own token balance.
